Honest Answers

Questions You Might Be Asking

Do I have to share a bedroom?

No. Every resident in our transitional homes gets their own private, furnished bedroom with a lockable door. You only share community spaces like the kitchen, living room, laundry, and bathrooms.

Can I keep my cell phone, laptop, and personal belongings?

100% yes. Under California WIC § 16001.9 (Foster Youth Bill of Rights), you have the legal right to unmonitored communication and personal property. We never confiscate or search your phone or personal devices.

Can I have a job or go to college while living here?

Yes — that is exactly what our program is designed to support. Whether you work full-time, attend Antelope Valley College, trade school, or are searching for employment, we help you coordinate transportation, apply for Chafee grants and financial aid, and build savings.

What are the house rules?

We operate on adult mutual respect, not institutional punishment. Basic community agreements include: no smoking or vaping indoors, a drug-and-alcohol-free home environment, quiet hours after 10:00 PM on weeknights so everyone can sleep and work, and cleaning up after yourself in shared spaces.

How much does it cost to live here?

If you are referred under California AB 12 (THP-Plus-FC) or county THP-Plus, your rent, utilities, high-speed fiber WiFi, and supportive coaching are 100% covered by the county and state transitional living program at zero cost to you.
